Sidonggou Scenic Area (Four Caves Valley Scenic Area, 四洞沟), formerly known as Minxi Stream, earned its name due to the presence of four interconnected caves behind four-tiered waterfalls within the valley. Along the 4-kilometer river course in the area, four distinctive waterfalls are evenly distributed, accompanied by nearly 20 mountain springs and streams on both sides. The cascading water sparkles like pearls, surrounded by myriad bamboo groves and picturesque rock formations. The landscape is adorned with stunning peaks, lush forests, and rare flora such as the Chinese toon tree and the golden-flowered tea plant.

Visitors can also admire cultural landmarks like the meticulously crafted Zheng Clan Archway and the Tea Making and Papermaking Workshop, alongside natural wonders like the enchanting Shixiang Mountain and the ethereal Du Xian Bridge, adding to the allure of the Danxia landforms.

Sidonggou Scenic Area is located in Chishui, Zunyi, Guizhou Province, China, approximately 17 kilometers away from the urban area of Chishui City. To reach Sidonggou Scenic Area, you can take a special bus at Chishui Bus Station, departing every half hour with a fare of 5 yuan.

Bailongtan Waterfall

The largest waterfall among the Sidonggou waterfall cluster, Bailongtan Waterfall boasts a height of 60 meters and a width of 23 meters. Its thunderous roar and misty spray create a magnificent and awe-inspiring sight as the water cascades down forcefully. Below the waterfall lies the “Bailongtan” pool, where the water churns and splashes, shimmering like silver in the sunlight. A gigantic rock resembling a frog sits at the base of the waterfall, adding to the natural allure of the scene.


Danxia Landforms

The Danxia rock caves are another marvel within the Sidonggou Scenic Area. With high, complete stone ceilings, excellent ventilation, ample brightness, and cascading waterfalls resembling misty curtains, these caves offer a refreshing and spacious environment. Outside the caves, lush bamboo forests provide cool shade, while inside, the vibrant red walls of the caves reflect light, creating a surreal atmosphere reminiscent of a celestial paradise.


Du Xian Bridge

Located on the left side of the road before entering the Sidonggou Scenic Area, Du Xian Bridge is a natural stone bridge spanning a gorge. Situated 30 meters above the river mouth of Juming Creek and stretching 500 meters across, this bridge is made of massive sandstone rocks formed by water erosion over time. With a length of 20 meters, a width of 3 meters, and a height of 6.2 meters, the bridge is sturdy and flat, surrounded by verdant bamboo groves. According to local folklore, those with virtue and filial piety who cross the bridge will experience a sensation akin to ascending to the heavens. Conversely, those with malicious intentions are warned against crossing the bridge, as it is believed that only the righteous can attain enlightenment and transcendence.
