Hohhot Travel Guide

Hohhot is a famous city on the northern frontier with a history of over 400 years, rich in ethnic characteristics and numerous historical landmarks. The city is home to more than 50 temples, and its suburbs feature several beautiful grassland tourism spots. Cattle and sheep roam freely, and the air is filled with the songs of birds and the fragrance of flowers. On the southern bank of the Dahei River stands the renowned Zhaojun Tomb, a Western Han dynasty tomb that has been celebrated throughout history, with its distinctive green mound rising majestically.

Hohhot is also home to Hassu Lake, known as the “West Lake of the Frontier.” This natural lake boasts clear skies and pristine blue waters. The city’s Islamic Style Street, which is connected to the Mongolian Style Street, is adorned in desert yellow with accents of green and white. With its round domed roofs and towering pillar-like towers, it offers a strong taste of Islamic architectural charm.
