The Princess Heshuo Kejing House (和硕恪靖公主府), also known as the Princess Gulen Kejing Mansion (固伦恪靖公主府), was constructed during the reign of the Kangxi Emperor between 1697 and 1706. This historic residence was home to Princess Heshuo Kejing, the sixth daughter of the Kangxi Emperor, who was elevated to the title of Gulen Kejing Princess during the Yongzheng period. She lived here after marrying Dun Duborji, a prince of the Khalkha Mongols.
The architectural design of the mansion reflects traditional cultural values, combining elements of royal garden landscaping with the naturalistic lifestyle of the northern prairie peoples. Originally sprawling over 600 acres, the mansion now occupies an area of 18,000 square meters, with the main building covering 4,800 square meters and an exhibition space of 1,500 square meters.
The layout of the mansion follows a symmetrical, axial arrangement, featuring a series of courtyards with a total of nineteen rooms. The central hall is marked by a plaque reading “静宜堂 Jingyi Tang,” a name given by the Kangxi Emperor during a visit to celebrate the tenth wedding anniversary of the princess.
Inside the main hall, the sleeping quarters are aligned along the central axis of the third courtyard, comprising five bays. The eastern section serves as the princess’s bedroom, while the western section houses a Buddhist altar dedicated to religious artifacts and treasures. The mansion’s construction is characterized by its white marble platform bases, showcasing exquisite craftsmanship and a simple yet elegant style that exudes the dignity and prestige of royal residences.
