Xiamen Travel Guide
Xiamen is a charming “Garden on the Sea,” blending the elegance of a coastal city with the warmth of a hometown for overseas Chinese, the rich customs of Fujian and Taiwan, and the allure of seaside cuisine and exotic architecture. Known for its spring-like climate year-round, Xiamen is one of China’s most environmentally friendly cities, with fresh air and a pristine ecosystem. The city is home to thousands of egrets, which have become a unique part of its natural landscape. Due to its shape resembling an egret, Xiamen is also affectionately called “Egret Island.”
Autumn (September to November) is the best time to visit for tea enthusiasts, as it is the prime season for tea harvesting and tasting. The Mid-Autumn Festival, with its family reunions and lively “Bo Bing” tradition, adds to the festive atmosphere, while the city’s vibrant phoenix flowers, Xiamen’s city flower, adorn the streets with their fiery red blooms. Winter (December to April) is mild and ideal for seaside vacations, though prices for accommodation and dining tend to rise during the busy Chinese New Year period.
I left Xiamen on the 19th! Here’s a summary! Weather: It has been quite cold in the past few days, so you need to wear thick clothes in the mornings and evenings! The Yuehua… Read more »

November and December are probably the most comfortable seasons in Xiamen. It’s neither too hot nor too cold; a light jacket is suitable for the mornings and evenings, while a T-shirt is just right for the midday sun.
The humidity is significantly lower than in the summer, so there’s no bothersome moisture affecting visibility, and the rainfall is relatively scarce before the transition from autumn to winter.
Today, Gulangyu is accessible as usual, and it is expected to be open tomorrow as well, so there’s no need to worry too much about the impact of the typhoon.
Today, the weather in Xiamen is still nice, with no worries about sudden rain showers. The weather will remain like this until early September.
