Xiangyang Travel Guide

Xiangyang, historically known as Xiangfan, is located in the northwest of Hubei Province along the middle reaches of the Han River. It connects to the Jianghan Plain in the east, links Sichuan and Shaanxi in the west, borders Hunan and Guangdong in the south, and reaches Henan and Luoyang in the north. This strategic location has earned it the reputation of being a major transportation hub, historically referred to as “the thoroughfare of seven provinces.”

According to local chronicles, during the reign of King Xuan of Zhou, Zhong Shanfu was enfeoffed in Fan, establishing the State of Fan. The city has a history that spans over 2,800 years, with more than 200 cultural sites from various historical periods identified within its jurisdiction. Some of these relics are considered world-class treasures.

Today, Xiangyang is a city where rich historical and cultural heritage coexists with modern technological advancements. It is renowned for its profound cultural legacy, which includes numerous historical landmarks, as well as its booming industries in automobile manufacturing and aerospace equipment.
