The Museum Of The History Of Northeast China's Occupation

The Museum of the History of Northeast China’s Occupation (东北沦陷史陈列馆) covers an area of 26,500 square meters and was officially opened on September 18, 2006. The museum’s collection, sourced from both domestic and international acquisitions, includes a variety of items such as ceramics, paper, metals, and wood. According to the China Museum Gazetteer, the museum houses 3,100 artifacts, including 75 pieces of ceramics, 1,800 paper items, 1,163 metal objects, and 62 wooden pieces.

The architectural style of the museum is designed to complement the overall appearance of the nearby Puppet Emperor’s Palace. The building’s form emphasizes rhythmic variation, with staggered walls and a dynamic facade. Under a unified roof, the structure features different types of brickwork, enhancing the visual harmony. The use of blue tiles and granite cladding gives the building a sense of gravity, symbolizing both its historical significance and connection to the cultural heritage of the Puppet Emperor’s Palace.

The museum’s main exhibition is titled “Never Forget September 18.” It is divided into three main sections: the Conspiracy, the Occupation, and the Resistance. The exhibition covers nine major topics and 33 sub-topics, occupying nearly 4,000 square meters with a 1,200-meter-long exhibition path. The display features 1,020 artifacts, over 1,200 historical photographs, 14 documentary films, and 40 historical scenes. Through an extensive collection of irrefutable historical facts, artifacts, and documents, the exhibition vividly illustrates the shameful history of Northeast China’s occupation, exposing Japan’s military invasion, puppet government establishment, and fascist colonial rule. It also celebrates the heroic resistance of the people under the leadership of the Communist Party of China, urging visitors to remember history, oppose war, promote peace, and encourage humanity’s shared development.
