Xuexiang National Forest Park (雪乡国家森林公园), covering an area of 17,916 hectares and situated at an elevation of 1,100 meters, is a stunning natural wonder in China. The park’s unique microclimate is a result of the frequent convergence of cold air from Lake Baikal and warm, moist air from the Sea of Japan, along with its distinctive topography. This combination creates the fascinating phenomenon of “three sunny days in summer and snow covering the forest in winter,” leading to a remarkable winter landscape.
At the heart of the village is Xueyun Street, the most vibrant area in Xuexiang. This nearly 500-meter-long street is lined with various shops and accommodations, creating a lively atmosphere. In the evenings, the red lanterns hanging in front of the stores add a festive charm to the surroundings.
The park features two peaks that rise over 1,700 meters, with snow remaining year-round. The snow season lasts for about seven months, with the deepest snow accumulation reaching nearly two meters. The best time to visit Xuexiang is from December to March, when the snow cover is at its thickest, attracting numerous visitors eager to experience the enchanting winter scenery.
