Luoyan Island, a peninsula formed by the Ulongju and Guanzhongju, holds a unique historical significance. Legend has it that during the Spring and Autumn period, King Zhuang of Chu led his troops to the eastern shore of East Lake, where the breathtaking scenery captivated him. He decided to set up camp along the Moshan area. However, a rebellion led by General Doyuejiao threatened his camp. King Zhuang beat the war drums to rally his troops and successfully defeated the rebels. Doyuejiao, escaping by boat, took refuge on this desolate island and resorted to hunting geese for sustenance. One day, he wounded a goose, which, despite its injury, flew directly to King Zhuang’s camp. The king treated the wounded goose’s injury and followed it back to capture the traitor. In honor of the guiding goose, King Zhuang named this uninhabited island “Luoyan Island.” All the current structures on the island are made of bamboo and wood, creating an excellent space for harmonious interaction with nature.

The pool features a row of massive rocks, more than a meter tall, scattered in a chaotic manner, forming cascades. The springs originate from the waters of Changchong and Lulin, flowing continuously throughout the year. Water from five sources trickles down through crevices, resembling five brilliant silver threads descending from the cliff. The lower part of the pool is wide and shallow, offering a perfect spot to admire the cascades. Nearby, a stone is inscribed with the characters “龙泉” (Dragon Spring). Legend has it that there resides a kind-hearted and gentle dragon. In times of drought, the dragon would create clouds and mist to bring much-needed rain to the forest.
