Qiushui Square Nanchang

Qiushui Square (秋水广场), completed on January 28, 2004, is a prominent landmark in Nanchang, Jiangxi Province. It is located directly across the Gan River from the renowned Tengwang Pavilion, whose fame is immortalized in the “Preface to the Tengwang Pavilion” with the line “The sunset and the solitary duck fly together; the autumn waters are the same color as the vast sky (落霞与孤鹜齐飞,秋水共长天一色),” from which Qiushui Square derives its name.

Situated on the eastern bank of the Gan River, Qiushui Square is flanked by the Nanchang Municipal Government buildings to the west, Nanchang Bridge to the south, and Bayi Bridge to the north. The square covers an area of 86,000 square meters and features a crescent-shaped layout. Its shoreline stretches 1,100 meters, with the widest section measuring 110 meters.

The main attraction of Qiushui Square is its musical fountain, which reaches a height of 128 meters. In the evenings, couples can be seen riding tandem bicycles, children play with colorful light-up toys, and elderly people stroll along the pebbled paths. As night falls, the square comes alive with vibrant lights illuminating the fountains, which dance rhythmically to the music. This lively atmosphere creates a joyful ambiance, making Qiushui Square a beloved spot for both locals and visitors.
