Shapotou Scenic Area (沙坡头景区), located in Zhongwei City, Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, is one of China’s key areas for desert control, stretching about 38 kilometers long and 5 kilometers wide, with an elevation between 1,300 and 1,500 meters. Location and Transportation
Shapotou Scenic Area is located on the southeastern edge of the Tengger Desert, in the western part of Zhongwei City, Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region. It stretches from Erdao Shagou South Forest House in the east to Toudao Dun in the west, with the Tengger Desert to the north and the Yellow River to the south.
To reach Shapotou, visitors can first take a train to Zhongwei City. From the train station, taxis are readily available and can take you directly to the scenic area, which is a convenient and popular option for tourists.
