Shenlong Cave (神龙洞), situated at the heart of the Huangguoshu Scenic Area, boasts a discovered area of approximately 380,000 square meters, with a total length of 4,640 meters and an average height of 21 meters. Currently, 1,600 meters of pathways are open to visitors, allowing for a tour lasting about 70 minutes. It is renowned as the most typical, peculiar, and aesthetically valuable cave among the Huangguoshu karst cave group.
Discovered by the Buyi ancestors of Zhedou Village over three hundred years ago, Shenlong Cave once served as a military fortress for local Buyi people resisting bandits, with military facilities still preserved to this day. The cave is revered by the local Buyi ethnic group as a “divine cave.” It consists of two dry cave layers and one water cave layer, with the lower level’s underground river connected to the Huangguoshu Waterfall. The interconnected chambers of the cave feature a labyrinth of karst formations, with over one hundred thousand stalactites ranging from sizes large enough to embrace to small as embroidery needles. The cave showcases a variety of karst landscapes, including stone curtains, stone waterfalls, stalagmites, stone flowers, and stone columns.
Shenlong Cave boasts a total of 60 classic scenic spots, including the Lion King Welcoming Guests, Wealth-Attracting Pixiu, Coiling Dragon Jade Pillar, Totem Divine Pillar, Palace of Myriad Forms, Worry-Free Maitreya Buddha, Thousand Hills Fields, Fairyland of Yaochi, Thousand-Leaf Qin, Child-Bearing Guanyin, Southern Polar Immortal, the “Huangguoshu” Grand Stone Waterfall, Three Stars Birthday Celebration, and Bodhidharma Facing the Wall. Notably, the Shenlong Cave Dragon Palace Grand Theater, measuring over 30 meters in height and 60 meters in width, is equipped with the world’s most advanced natural sound system.

Shenlong Cave is located in Zhennning County, Anshun City, Guizhou Province, China, at the heart of the Huangguoshu Scenic Area, approximately 3 kilometers upstream from the Huangguoshu Waterfall. To get there, you have the following options:
From Guiyang to Huangguoshu: From Guiyang’s Jinyang Bus Station (贵阳金阳客车站), there are direct buses to Huangguoshu. Buses depart every day from 7:30 to 12:45 (every 40 minutes), with a ticket price of 55 yuan per person. The journey takes about 2 hours.
From Anshun to Huangguoshu: At Anshun South Bus Station (安顺汽车南站), you can take a bus to Huangguoshu. Alight at the Huangguoshu Xincheng Ticket Center (黄果树新城票务中心). Buses depart every day from 7:00 to 19:00 (every 20 minutes), with a ticket price of 20 yuan.
