Splendid China Folk Village (锦绣中华民俗村) is a large-scale, scenic miniature park located along the picturesque shores of Shenzhen Bay. It is the largest and most comprehensive real-life miniature park in the world. The entire park resembles a giant map of China, with 82 scenic spots distributed according to their geographic locations. Most of these spots are built at a 1:15 scale and can be grouped into three categories: ancient architecture, famous natural landscapes, and folk customs. The park also features over 50,000 pottery figurines placed throughout the various scenic spots.
Among the highlights, visitors can find replicas of the Qin Terracotta Warriors, one of the eight wonders of the world, and numerous globally renowned attractions such as the Great Wall (the longest in the world), Zhaozhou Bridge (the oldest stone arch bridge), the Ancient Observatory, the Yingxian Wooden Pagoda (the oldest wooden pagoda), the Forbidden City (the largest palace), the scenic Yellow Mountain, and the magnificent Huangguoshu Waterfall. You will also encounter sacred landmarks like the Mausoleum of the Yellow Emperor, the Tomb of Genghis Khan, the Ming Tombs, Sun Yat-sen’s Mausoleum, and famous temples and pagodas such as the Confucius Temple and the Temple of Heaven. Scenic spots like West Lake, the Suzhou Gardens, the Three Gorges, and the Lijiang River are also represented, alongside ethnic dwellings from various regions of China. Visitors can witness recreations of ancient ceremonies such as imperial worship, the grand wedding of Emperor Guangxu, and traditional folk customs related to marriage and funerals. In the Bell Museum, you can enjoy a live performance of the ancient Chu Bell music by musicians dressed in traditional attire.
The China Folk Culture Village within the park includes 27 villages from 21 of China’s ethnic minorities, all built to a 1:1 scale. Known as the “Museum of Chinese Folk Culture,” the village showcases traditional ethnic clothing, local cuisine, unique architecture, and folk arts from various regions across China. Throughout the year, especially during major holidays such as May Day, National Day, summer vacations, and the Spring Festival, the village hosts large-scale cultural events. The Dai Water-Splashing Festival in July and August is one of the most popular activities among both local and international tourists. The vibrant ethnic performances, festive atmosphere, and deep cultural significance make this a highlight of any visit. Unique shows like “The Legend of the Desert,” “Eastern Elegance,” and “The Dance of the Dragon and Phoenix” provide thrilling entertainment and a rich artistic experience.
