Changchun Siberian Tiger Park – a Large Wildlife Reserve

Changchun Siberian Tiger Park

Changchun Siberian Tiger Park (长春东北虎园), established on April 26, 2009, is a large wildlife reserve in China designed to protect and rehabilitate endangered species, particularly the Siberian tiger. Constructed by the State Forestry Administration and the Jilin Provincial Forestry Department, the park was created in response to the challenges faced by wildlife due to human activity and population growth. It spans over 50 hectares and serves as a sanctuary for various endangered and rare wild animals, emphasizing rescue, breeding, and rewilding efforts.

The park is located in the beautiful Jingyue Lake Scenic Area, surrounded by lush mountains and serene waters. This natural setting provides visitors with an immersive experience in nature, making it an ideal environment for observing wildlife. The park is home to a variety of animals, including majestic Siberian tigers, African lions, black bears, and brown bears. In addition to these large predators, the park features smaller animals such as Mouflon sheep, sika deer, kangaroos, and ring-tailed lemurs, as well as over 2,000 birds, including the Oriental white stork, red-crowned crane, and swans.

One of the park’s highlights is its unique animal performance shows, where visitors can witness the impressive skills of these animals in a controlled and safe environment. The park also offers interactive experiences that allow guests to engage with wildlife in novel ways, enhancing their understanding of animal behavior and conservation. The grand animal parade showcases the bond between humans and animals, promoting an ecological philosophy centered around coexistence and mutual respect.

Changchun Siberian Tiger Park is designed to provide a humane viewing experience, allowing visitors to appreciate the power and grace of tigers, lions, and bears up close, all while ensuring their safety. The park’s layout encourages close encounters with gentler creatures like ring-tailed lemurs, sika deer, and various rare birds, allowing guests to marvel at their beauty and intelligence. This interactive experience fosters a deeper appreciation for wildlife and the importance of conservation.
