Haizhiyun Park (海之韵公园), originally known as Donghai Park, is situated in the easternmost part of the Dalian Coastal Scenic Area, covering over 450 hectares and bordered by the sea on both sides. This picturesque park features stunning natural scenery, including mountains, forests, azure waters, and grassy areas, with a coastline that stretches more than 1,200 meters. The park serves as a beautiful seaside retreat for both locals and visitors.
A highlight of Haizhiyun Park is its 7.6-kilometer scenic route, which boasts two notable attractions. The first is the spectacular “Eighteen Bends,” a winding path that crosses the hills, offering breathtaking views from above. This unique landscape resembles a silver ribbon cascading down toward the coast and is often referred to as the “Undersea Grand Canyon” due to its dramatic topography. The second attraction is a site known as “Strange Slope,” where vehicles experience unusual uphill and downhill sensations, creating a fascinating and amusing experience for visitors.
In addition to these features, Haizhiyun Park is home to several other attractions, including Haizhiyun Square and a replica ancient warship. The park’s northern entrance, formerly known as Donghaitou, was once an uninviting area characterized by barren saline-alkali land that attracted few visitors. However, with the development of Haizhiyun Park, this area has transformed into a vibrant destination for leisure and recreation.
Visitors to Haizhiyun Park can enjoy the local culinary delights of Dalian. One must-try dish is the famous grilled squid, known for its unique flavor and tenderness. Many barbecue restaurants in the area operate late into the night, making it a popular gathering spot for friends and families. Another local specialty is the lantern sea cucumber, which is praised for its fresh taste and soft texture, providing a delightful culinary experience. Additionally, the stir-fried sea intestines, recognized for their high nutritional value and delicious flavor, are often said to be equivalent to seven eggs in terms of nutrition, making them a popular dish among seafood enthusiasts.
