Tiger Mountain Film Base

Tiger Mountain Film Base (威虎山影视城), located in Hengtaihezi Town, Mudanjiang City, was established in 1998. It draws its inspiration from the novel “Lin Hai Xue Yuan,” recreating the historical landscape and heroic achievements of anti-bandit efforts during that era. Covering an area of 300,000 square meters with 18,000 square meters of constructed space, the base features 107 buildings that showcase the architectural styles of northern mountain towns from the late Qing Dynasty to the pre-revolutionary period. Notable productions filmed here include the TV series “Lin Hai Xue Yuan” and the 3D film “The Taking of Tiger Mountain.”

At the film base, visitors will encounter many familiar scenes, such as the old Taoist temple with its striking red pillars, the makeshift training ground at Jiapi Ditch village, and the thrilling setting of the Weihu Hall. This hall is a significant attraction; it serves as both the lively gathering place for the bandits in the novel and the dramatic stage for the showdown between Yang Zirong and the bandit leader, Zuo Shandiao.

In addition to the faithful recreations of the novel’s settings, Tiger Mountain Film Base offers a taste of authentic northeastern culture. Traditional northeastern villages have been constructed, complete with exhibits of local customs and traditions. Visitors will find the vibrant atmosphere and the warm hospitality of the northeastern people make for an engaging and enjoyable experience, providing a unique glimpse into the region’s rich cultural heritage. Whether you are a film enthusiast or simply looking to explore, Tiger Mountain Film Base promises a memorable adventure.
